The Manor House Nursing Home is a highly regarded residential and nursing care home located in the beautiful Ribble Valley. We are passionate about providing outstanding care, and excellent food plays a vital role in the health, wellbeing and enjoyment of our residents.
We are looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Chef to join our friendly catering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in preparing high-quality, home-cooked meals using fresh ingredients and who enjoys making a real difference to people's daily lives.
About the Role
Working as part of our established kitchen team, you will be responsible for planning and preparing nutritious, appetising meals for up to 51 residents and day-care clients with a range of dietary requirements, preferences and textures.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and serving freshly cooked breakfasts, lunches, evening meals and desserts.
- Producing homemade cakes, biscuits and other baked goods for residents to enjoy throughout the day.
- Planning varied, seasonal menus that promote nutrition and resident choice.
- Preparing themed menus and special event meals to celebrate occasions such as Pancake Day, Easter, Christmas, and other national celebrations throughout the year, helping to create memorable experiences for our residents.
- Catering for specialist dietary needs, including modified texture diets and therapeutic diets and food allergies.
- Maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety.
- Working to the Safer Food, Better Business standard
- Managing food ordering, stock control and minimising waste.
- Working closely with the care team to ensure residents receive an excellent dining experience.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working as a Chef in a professional kitchen.
- Is passionate about preparing fresh, high-quality food.
- Understands the importance of nutrition and hydration within a care setting.
- Is organised, reliable and able to work independently.
- Has excellent food hygiene knowledge
- Enjoys working as part of a supportive team and delivering exceptional service.
Previous experience within a care home or healthcare environment would be advantageous but is not essential, as full induction and ongoing training will be provided.
