Job Title: Leader of Personal Development and Wellbeing
Location: Groveside School, Reading, RG2 7AY
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday–Friday
Salary: £42,000 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

About the Role
As Leader of Personal Development and Wellbeing, you'll lead the strategic development and delivery of our Personal Development provision across the school, including PSHE, wellbeing, enrichment activities and preparation for adulthood.
Working closely with senior leaders and colleagues, you'll ensure our pupils receive engaging, meaningful learning experiences that promote their emotional wellbeing, personal growth and independence, while supporting staff to embed Personal Development across the wider curriculum.
Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you'll continue to inspire pupils through high-quality classroom teaching and personalised learning.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead, develop and coordinate the school's Personal Development and Wellbeing curriculum, including PSHE, enrichment and preparation for adulthood.
- Deliver engaging, creative and personalised teaching that enables every pupil to achieve their potential.
- Support colleagues to embed Personal Development across the curriculum through coaching, guidance and collaboration.
- Monitor pupil progress, analyse outcomes and use data to drive continuous improvement.
- Develop programmes that promote wellbeing, resilience, independence, communication and positive relationships.
- Work collaboratively with families, therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for every pupil.
- Promote positive behaviour through restorative and nurturing approaches.
What you will bring
- QTS required
- Experience teaching pupils with SEND, including those with autism and complex needs.
- Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with a passion for inclusive education.
- Has experience leading or developing Personal Development, PSHE or wellbeing initiatives.
- Can inspire and motivate both pupils and colleagues.
- Understands how to use assessment and data to improve outcomes.
- Builds positive, trusting relationships with young people through empathy, consistency and restorative practice.
- Is resilient, organised, creative and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Driving licence required
About Us
Groveside School is a Special Educational Needs School for Pupils 7 - 16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Our school opened in September 2024 and will cater for 60 pupils.
