Job Purpose
The Conference & Banqueting Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day delivery of conferences, corporate events, weddings, and banquets. Acting as the main on-the-floor leader, this role ensures high service standards, effective team coordination, and a positive guest experience, while actively supporting beverage upselling and revenue-driving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Event Supervision & Service Delivery
- Supervise the setup, service, and breakdown of conferences, banquets, weddings, and events
- Lead service during events, ensuring function sheets and timings are followed accurately
- Act as the main point of contact on the floor for staff and guests during assigned events
Team Leadership
- Supervise Conferencing & Banqueting Assistants during events
- Allocate duties, monitor performance, and provide real-time coaching and feedback
- Support training of new team members and promote service excellence
Beverage Service & Upselling
- Actively encourage and support upselling of beverages including premium wines, drinks receptions, cocktails, and upgraded packages
- Lead by example with confident beverage knowledge and guest engagement
- Ensure wine and beverage service is delivered to venue standards
Guest Experience
- Deliver warm, professional, and attentive service at all times
- Proactively manage guest expectations and resolve issues efficiently
- Escalate concerns to management where necessary
Operational Standards
- Ensure event spaces, bars, and service areas are set up and maintained to venue standards
- Monitor cleanliness, presentation, and stock levels during events
- Ensure smooth communication between kitchen, bar, and service teams
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, food hygiene, and licensing regulations
- Promote responsible alcohol service at all times
- Report incidents, hazards, or maintenance issues promptly
Administration & Communication
- Assist with pre-event briefings and post-event feedback
- Support accurate recording of consumption, breakages, and service issues
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within conferences, banqueting, or Food & Beverage
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Good knowledge of beverage service and upselling techniques
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
Desirable
- Experience working with corporate events and weddings
- Wine or beverage training (e.g., WSET or equivalent)
- Experience in high-volume or premium event environments
