Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our friendly team in a very popular family owned business with a great reputation. We pride ourselves on serving fresh, locally sourced Yorkshire produce in a high quality kitchen environment. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will work closely with our head chef to manage daily kitchen operations & maintain our high standards of food quality & safety. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive & independent business.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth workflow.
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, maintaining consistency and presentation standards.
- Oversee food production processes to ensure efficiency and adherence to safety regulations.
- Lead by example in food preparation, cooking, and plating to inspire team members.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen area.
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction.
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimise waste to optimise kitchen resources.
- Support the development of new menu items in collaboration with the culinary team.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role within a busy restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Supervising experience with strong team management skills.
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation.
- Solid understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with colleagues and front-of-house staff.
- Previous experience in food production, hospitality or restaurant environments is highly desirable.
- A passion for culinary excellence and delivering outstanding guest experiences.

Pay: £13.50-£15.00 per hour
