Lochwynd is a Scottish civils and utilities contractor with a reputation built on doing things properly — no shortcuts, no nonsense, no excuses. We're growing and we need a Squad Leader in Glasgow who can hit the ground running.
What you'll actually be doing
You'll lead a small squad on a mix of streetworks and civils jobs across the central belt — ducting and chambers, kerbs and slabs, poles, guardrail, surfacing and reinstatement. CAT & Genny work, signing and coning to 40mph, the full job pack from first dig to sign-off.
The squad is yours to run. You'll set the standard on site, keep the paperwork tight, manage any subbies, and be the person the office trusts to make the right call without needing a phone signal.
What we need from you
The non-negotiables:
- Real groundworks experience — you've done the work, not just watched it
- CSCS, NRSWA Operative, and SSSTS in date
- Full UK driving licence
- Confidence reading drawings and job packs and setting up site off them
- The leadership to run a squad properly — firm, fair, and on the tools when it counts
Nice to have, but we'll back the right person to get them:
- ECS card
- Emergency First Aid at Work
- SVQ/NVQ Level 2 Construction or Engineering
- Previous supervisor training
