The role.
We are seeking a Senior HR Adviser to provide expert advice and support to managers and senior leaders on a wide range of employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management and organisational change.
In this role, you will;
-
Manage employee relations cases.
- Advise and coach managers on HR policies, procedures and employment law.
- Support organisational change, restructures and consultations.
- Analyse and present workforce data and insights.
- Ensure establishment data is accurate and supports workforce reporting.
- Support and guide HR Advisers and HR Administrators.
- Contribute to HR projects and service improvements.
About you.
You will have:
-
Significant generalist HR experience, including employee relations casework.
- A sound understanding of employment law, HR policy and best practice.
- Experience supporting organisational change and restructures.
- Excellent communication, coaching and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present workforce data.
- A Level 5 HR qualification (or equivalent experience). CIPD membership is desirable.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative People Services team and contribute to delivering high-quality HR support across the organisation.
Qualifications.
We are looking for candidates educated to Level 5 vocational qualification standard in a HR-related discipline (or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience).
CIPD membership and/or progress towards Chartered Membership is desirable.
Work style.
At North Somerset Council, we offer a hybrid working environment based on four distinct work styles. Depending on the role and personal circumstances, you will fall into one of these categories. However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development. We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.
This role falls into the category of Flexible Worker which means you can expect to work in the following way:

- Works both from home and the office, depending on the task at hand.
- Training is provided to help balance work-life and manage time effectively, with an emphasis on communication for team touchpoints and planning in-office days for collaboration.
