About the Role
Goggleboxes Ltd is looking for an experienced Production Manager to take responsibility for a developing, high-volume packing and fulfilment operation based in Corby.
This is a hands-on management position for someone with proven experience in food packing, production, fulfilment or another high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
The successful candidate will manage the operation from labour planning and preparation through to packing, quality control and dispatch. You will ensure that work is completed accurately, safely, efficiently and within the required timescales.
As the operation continues to develop, you will also review the existing setup, identify areas for improvement and introduce the processes, controls and performance standards needed to support future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day packing and fulfilment operation.
- Plan staffing, line allocation and workflow against forecast workloads.
- Lead and manage supervisors, operatives, stock-replenishment, quality-control and dispatch teams.
- Ensure production targets and dispatch deadlines are consistently achieved.
- Monitor output, labour efficiency, accuracy, downtime, waste and rework.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and improve workflows, line layouts and packing methods.
- Ensure products, packaging and other materials are available in the correct locations at the required times.
- Maintain effective stock control, traceability and reconciliation processes.
- Oversee operational software, scanning and labelling processes.
- Establish and maintain clear standard operating procedures, training records and operational controls.
- Ensure compliance with food-safety, hygiene, temperature-control and health-and-safety requirements.
- Lead operational briefings and communicate targets and performance clearly.
- Recruit, train, coach and performance-manage employees when required.
- Work closely with the directors and other departments to resolve operational issues.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Significant management experience within food packing, food production, fulfilment, manufacturing or a closely related operation.
- Experience managing a high-volume, labour-intensive packing or production environment.
- Strong knowledge of hygiene, traceability, quality control and operational compliance.
- Experience planning labour and production around changing workloads.
- A demonstrable record of improving productivity, accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Experience managing supervisors and a substantial operational workforce.
- Strong leadership, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence using operational software and performance data.
- A practical, visible and hands-on management style.
- Willingness and ability to work weekends as a core requirement of the position.
Desirable Experience
- Experience establishing or substantially improving a packing or fulfilment operation.
- Knowledge of HACCP or comparable food-safety standards.
- Relevant food-safety and health-and-safety qualifications.
- Experience managing fluctuating or seasonal workloads.
