Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Bench Joiner to join our manufacturing team, specialising in the assembly of high-quality bedroom and bathroom furniture products manufactured from Melamine Faced Chipboard (MFC). The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately assembling furniture components to specification, ensuring excellent workmanship, quality standards, and productivity targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble bedroom and bathroom furniture units using pre-cut and machined MFC components.
- Interpret technical drawings, assembly instructions, and production schedules.
- Fit hardware and accessories including hinges, drawer systems, handles, runners, and adjustable fittings.
- Carry out quality inspections throughout the assembly process to ensure products meet company standards.
- Use a range of hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment safely and effectively.
- Identify and report any defects, shortages, or production issues to the Workshop Supervisor.
- Ensure all assembled products are prepared correctly for dispatch or the next stage of production.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in accordance with health and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet production deadlines and customer requirements.
- Assist with other workshop duties as required.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience as a Bench Joiner, Furniture Assembler, or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience assembling MFC furniture products.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and assembly specifications.
- Competent in the use of hand and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work to production targets.
- A positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Experience manufacturing bedroom or bathroom furniture.
- Knowledge of modern furniture fittings and hardware systems.
- Forklift licence.
- Relevant woodworking or joinery qualifications.
