We are a warm, welcoming, and busy nursery looking for a passionate and experienced Nursery Chef to join our dedicated team. If you love creating delicious, nutritious meals for young children and enjoy being creative in the kitchen, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
As our Nursery Chef, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving healthy, balanced meals and snacks that meet the nutritional needs of children aged 0–5 years. You will play a key role in encouraging healthy eating habits while ensuring all meals are prepared to the highest standards of food hygiene and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare fresh, nutritious, and varied meals and snacks for children each day.
- Develop creative, seasonal menus that are appealing to young children while meeting current nutritional guidelines.
- Cater for a range of dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety in line with Food Standards Agency regulations.
- Manage food ordering, stock control, and kitchen budgets efficiently.
- Work closely with the nursery management team to continually improve the dining experience for our children.
- Ensure all food preparation records, temperature checks, and cleaning schedules are accurately maintained.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working as a chef in a school, children's nursery, or similar childcare setting.
- Is passionate about preparing healthy, nutritious meals for young children.
- Is creative and enjoys designing exciting, varied menus that encourage children to try new foods.
- Has a good understanding of children's nutritional requirements.
- Holds a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 is desirable).
- Is organised, reliable, and able to work independently.
- Has excellent knowledge of food safety and allergen management.
