Overview
We are seeking a reliable and proactive General Operative to join our warehouse team. This role involves supporting various operational functions within a fast-paced environment, ensuring smooth and efficient handling of materials and products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and a keen eye for quality control. Previous warehouse experience is advantageous, and familiarity with warehouse management systems and mechanical knowledge will be considered a plus. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in logistics and warehousing operations.
Duties
- Handling materials safely and efficiently, including loading and unloading goods from lorries or pallets
- Managing stock levels through picking, packing, and stocking items accurately
- Assisting with shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods
- Maintaining organisation within the warehouse, including inventory management using warehouse management systems
- Conducting quality control checks to ensure products meet company standards
- Performing mechanical tasks related to equipment maintenance or troubleshooting as required
- Ensuring health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times during manual handling or equipment operation
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse operations such as materials handling, picking & packing, stock management, shipping & receiving
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems for inventory tracking and order processing
- Mechanical knowledge beneficial for equipment maintenance or troubleshooting
- Physical strength for heavy lifting and load/unload activities
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail for quality control tasks
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment while maintaining safety standards
- Good communication skills to follow instructions accurately and report issues promptly
