We are looking for a part-qualified or fully qualified accountant to join our Haslemere office in a broad, practice-wide role. The successful candidate will take ownership of a varied client portfolio spanning year-end accounts, UK corporation tax compliance, management accounting, bookkeeping, and VAT — providing genuinely rounded coverage across the core disciplines of general practice.
This is not a narrowly defined position. The role requires someone equally comfortable preparing and reviewing statutory year-end accounts and corporation tax returns as they are producing monthly or quarterly management accounts for owner-managed businesses. Strong technical ability across both compliance and management reporting is essential.
Key Responsibilities

- Preparing and reviewing UK corporation tax computations and CT600 returns, including capital allowances, loss relief, and related adjustments
- Preparing and reviewing monthly and quarterly management accounts for a range of clients, including commentary, variance analysis, and KPI reporting
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns across standard, cash, and flat rate schemes
- Managing bookkeeping and maintaining accurate accounting records for assigned clients
- Acting as day-to-day client contact, managing relationships professionally and responding to queries in a timely manner
- Reviewing reconciliations, control accounts, accruals, prepayments, and journals to ensure accuracy
- Managing client deadlines across year-end, tax, and management reporting cycles
- Supporting improvements to internal workflows, processes, and reporting procedures
- Mentoring and supporting junior members of staff where appropriate
Required Experience
- Minimum four years experience in a UK accountancy practice
- Some accounting qualification are desirable but not mandatory
- Strong experience preparing or reviewing year-end statutory accounts under FRS 102 or FRS 105
- It is not a must have, but it is desirable to have experience preparing or reviewing UK corporation tax computations and CT600 returns
- Strong experience preparing or reviewing management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
- Good understanding of VAT, bookkeeping, reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments
- Confident managing client relationships and handling multiple deadlines concurrently
- Good communication skills and a professional, client-facing manner
- Must be based within a comfortable daily commute of Haslemere — this is a fully on-site role with no remote or hybrid working
Desirable Experience
- Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, TaxCalc, or similar
- Experience preparing or reviewing consolidated or group accounts
- Familiarity with R&D tax credit claims or capital allowances work
- Experience reviewing bank reconciliations, control accounts, accruals, prepayments, and journals in detail
- Experience supporting or supervising junior members of staff
- Exposure to a range of business sizes and sectors within an accountancy practice

- Paid or approved study and exam leave
- Financial contribution towards exam fees
- Practical exposure to a broad range of work including year-end accounts, corporation tax, management accounts, VAT, and client management
