Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled, self-employed carpet and laminate fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing various flooring materials but mainly carpet and laminate, ensuring precise fitting and finishing to meet client specifications.
This role requires excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently, both independently and as part of a team. The position offers an opportunity to develop your expertise within the flooring and construction industry, contributing to high-quality project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Measure and prepare surfaces for flooring installation, ensuring accurate cutting and fitting of carpet and laminate materials.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to install flooring in accordance with schematics and project plans.
- Read and interpret construction schematics, drawings, and instructions to ensure precise installation.
- Prepare subfloors by cleaning, levelling, and applying necessary surface treatments such as construction painting or sealing.
- Cut, shape, and lay flooring materials with attention to detail, ensuring seamless joins and finish quality.
- Assist with site preparation, including moving materials and equipment safely around the work area.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Collaborate with team members and clients to ensure project specifications are met within scheduled timeframes.
Requirements and Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in carpet and/or laminate installation.
- Familiarity with hand tools such as cutters, chisels, screwdrivers, and hammers.
- Experience working with carpentry techniques and understanding schematics or technical drawings.
- Knowledge of power tools including drills, saws, sanders, and other relevant equipment.
- Owning your own tools is highly desirable, however if necessary these can be supplied.
