Head of Outsourced Training

HSS Training are the UK’s leading provider of health, safety and technical training. We offer over 400 industry recognised training courses aimed at providing our customers with all the knowledge and skills they need to succeed safely.
A typical day:
- Set and deliver outsourced training strategy Align training partnerships with business goals, identifying growth opportunities in suppliers, locations, and course offerings.

Lead and manage two core teams Oversee the Training Plus (booking/delivery) and Supply Chain (supplier management) teams, setting objectives, monitoring performance, and supporting issue resolution.

Manage supplier network end-to-end Source, onboard, negotiate with, and review external training providers to ensure quality, coverage, and value for money.

Oversee daily training operations Ensure customer bookings are fulfilled through approved suppliers, courses run on time, and service levels (availability, accuracy, satisfaction) are met.

Act as a senior escalation point Handle complex issues such as supplier failures, booking problems, or customer complaints, driving quick resolution and process improvements.

Drive quality, compliance, and standards Maintain robust QA processes, ensure suppliers meet regulatory and company requirements, and support audits.

Own commercial performance Manage costs, pricing, and margins, analyse data to spot trends and opportunities, and support tenders and new business activity.

Champion customer experience and collaboration Work cross-functionally (sales, ops, finance, compliance) and with suppliers to deliver a consistent, high-quality service and continuous improvement.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience managing outsourced training, supplier networks, or third-party service delivery environments.

Strong knowledge of training operations, supplier management, quality assurance, compliance, and customer service.

Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced operational or service-focused setting.

Commercially astute, with experience managing supplier contracts, pricing, costs, margins, and performance.

Confident stakeholder manager with strong negotiation skills and the ability to challenge suppliers to drive improvements.

Highly analytical, with solid reporting and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with proficiency in systems such as Microsoft Office, CRM, LMS, or training platforms (relevant qualifications a plus).
