Who we are:
Located in the heart if Suffolk, The Leaping Hare Restaurant (the first English vineyard restaurant!) has been in the Good Food Guide for 25 consecutive years. While our focus is game food, we serve a blend of modern and traditional European dishes, made with thoughtfully sourced ingredients. Our seven-acre vineyard produce our own award-winning wine that we serve exclusively in our restaurant.
About the role:
We are currently looking for a Pastry Chef to join the team at one of the region’s award-winning restaurants.
We have a small kitchen team with a genuine family feel. We are looking for someone to join the team with enthusiasm, passion and goals. The candidate must be passionate about cooking with outstanding, local and homegrown ingredients with a real focus on producing seasonal pastry dishes. Working alongside the Kitchen team, this person must work professionally, efficiently and will have the opportunity to work closely with the Head Chef in their day to day (including but not limited to developing menus, forward planning events and sourcing ingredients).
You will have the opportunity to work closely with the garden team, harvesting grown ingredients and foraging wild ingredients.
Expect to work Wednesday through to Sundays with the additional Friday and Saturday evening shifts. We are closed every Monday and Tuesday so these will be your set days off throughout the year. With opportunity to have addition paid leave.
While this is a Pastry Chef role, you should expect to be cross trained in all areas of the kitchen so that during holiday or sickness, the team is resilient. Likewise, all other members of the team are currently trained to operate the pastry section...
Requirements:
Previous experience in a similar role is essential but further training will be provided during a probationary period.
Skills you should have:
· Previous experience working as part of a kitchen team (pastry, sous or head chef level)
· Passion for fresh, thoughtfully sourced and seasonal ingredients
· Be an active hands-on person with a passion to work hard as part of a team
· Have high standards and a great work ethic
· You will show willingness to learn new skills, be an active team player with excellent communication skills
· Working alongside your kitchen team you will be able to demonstrate your creativity and ability by helping to deliver top quality service
Also expect every Christmas Day off through until the New Year (usually around the 6/7th January).

Pay: £38,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
