Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursery Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and a strong commitment to providing high-quality care for children. As a Nursery Assistant, you will play a vital role in fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow.
What the role involves
- Supervising children during lunch
- Helping them eat (opening food, encouraging good habits)
- Promoting good table manners and social interaction
- Cleaning up after meals
- Ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing
- Supporting transitions (e.g., from lunch to play or nap time)
Typical hours
- Part-time, around 11:00am – 3:00pm
Skills & qualities needed
- Patience and a caring attitude
- Good communication with young children
- Basic safeguarding awareness
- Ability to stay calm and attentive
Qualifications
- Often no formal qualifications required
- However, a childcare qualification (like Level 2/3 in Early Years) is a bonus
Pay (UK typical)
- Around £10–£15 per hour, depending on experience and location
