Join the PQA Wirral Team – Film & TV Assistant Wanted!
PQA Wirral is a weekend performing arts academy for 6–18-year-olds, offering training in Comedy & Drama, Musical Theatre, and Film & TV.
With four thriving academies running every Friday and Saturday, we're looking to add another enthusiastic person to our team.
We're currently seeking a Film & TV Assistant to support our Friday and/or Saturday morning academies at Clare Mount Specialist Sports College, Wirral, CH46 1QY.
Friday: 4:30pm–7:30pm
Saturday: 9:45am–1:00pm
About the Role
You'll assist in delivering three engaging Film & TV classes each week, helping our students explore everything from acting for screen and screenwriting to directing, camera work, sound, lighting and editing.
We use professional equipment, including our Canon C100, and our students get the opportunity to take their ideas from the classroom to the screen.
Throughout the year, students work towards creating their own short films for submission to the PQA Film Festival, as well as our bi-annual PQA Wirral Cinema Screening.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
- Technically confident and genuinely passionate about Film & TV
- Interested in creative and arts subjects more broadly (Musical Theatre, Acting)
- Proactive – someone who sees what needs doing and gets involved
- Enthusiastic about working with young people and young creatives
- A supportive and positive team player
- Comfortable contributing ideas while also listening to and supporting others
- Happy to get stuck in, whether that's operating a camera, helping a student develop an idea or doing whatever is needed to make a session work
- Genuinely excited about being part of PQA Wirral, rather than simply looking for a few hours of paid work
- Ideally a driver and within reasonable commuting distance of CH46 1QY
- Experienced in film, education or a related area, either professionally or through study/personal projects
You don't need to have done exactly this job before. Attitude, enthusiasm and the ability to work well with people are just as important to us as technical knowledge.
This Is More Than Just a Weekend Job
We're looking for someone who wants to be part of something.
PQA Wirral is a creative environment where our team work together to give young people opportunities they might not otherwise have. Some sessions will involve cameras, filmmaking and exciting creative projects. Other times, it'll be about helping a student who is struggling, setting up equipment, solving a problem or simply making sure the group is having a great experience.
We're therefore looking for someone who enjoys being involved, supporting others and contributing to a team.

Pay
£42 per session
£84 if working both Friday and Saturday
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to combine their other work, studies or freelance activity with a regular role in a genuinely creative environment.
