Job Description
Knowle Court Care Home is looking for a reliable, practical Handy Man / Maintenance Person to support the day-to-day upkeep of our care home.
We are looking for someone with general maintenance experience, but applicants must also have some experience in joinery, plumbing, and basic electrics. The successful candidate will need to be confident carrying out minor repairs and maintenance tasks independently and must have their own tools.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys helping to keep a safe, well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs, including basic plumbing, joinery, painting, decorating, and basic electrical tasks
- Ensuring the building, fixtures, and fittings are kept in good working order
- Reporting any larger maintenance issues or safety concerns
- Supporting routine health and safety checks
- Maintaining outdoor areas as required
- Liaising with external contractors when needed
- Using your own tools to complete day-to-day maintenance tasks safely and effectively
About You
- Practical, hands-on, and able to work independently
- Previous maintenance or handyman experience required
- Some experience in joinery, plumbing, and basic electrics
- Must have your own tools
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
- Friendly and respectful, with an understanding of working in a care environment
- Awareness of health and safety practices
- Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential
