We are a rapidly growing, Construction Company specialising in the Prime Residential Market in London and the Home Counties.
The role
We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with three to five years' experience to join our commercial team. This is a role for someone who has moved beyond the basics and is ready to take real ownership of packages, with a clear route to Project Quantity Surveyor within the next 12 to 24 months.
You will work alongside our existing commercial team on live projects, managing your own packages end to end while continuing to develop under structured mentoring. We support professional development, including MRICS chartership, with study leave and financial assistance.
Key responsibilities
- Managing subcontract packages from procurement through to final account
- Preparing and agreeing monthly valuations, applications for payment and payment notices
- Measuring and valuing works from drawings and site records
- Pricing, submitting and agreeing variations and change control
- Assisting with cost value reconciliations and monthly commercial reporting
- Supporting the preparation of tenders, bills of quantities and cost plans
- Monitoring project costs against budget and flagging risks early
- Liaising with site teams, clients, consultants and the supply chain
- Ensuring compliance with contract terms, principally JCT and NEC forms
What we are looking for
Essential
- Three to five years' post graduate experience in a quantity surveying role within construction
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
- Sound working knowledge of standard forms of contract, particularly JCT or RIBA
- Confident with measurement, valuation and cost reporting
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with take off or costing software
- Clear communicator who can hold their own with subcontractors and site teams
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Working towards MRICS or MCIOB
- Experience in the Prime or high end residential sector
- Experience with Bluebeam, CostX, COINS, Causeway
