Pure Care is looking for an experienced HR Manager to take ownership of our HR function and lead the way we manage people, policy, and compliance across the business. This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who genuinely enjoys owning HR end-to-end, from day-to-day administration and payroll through to complex casework and strategic policy development.
You'll be the go-to person for all things HR at Pure Care, working closely with our management team to keep the business compliant, our people supported, and our processes running smoothly. Given the regulated nature of our sector, a strong understanding of Ofsted requirements and how they intersect with HR practice will be key to succeeding in this role.
It's a role suited to someone who's comfortable working independently, confident making judgement calls on complex people issues, and motivated by seeing the tangible impact of their work- whether that's a smoother payroll run, a policy that finally makes sense to non-HR staff, or a well-handled case that protects both the business and its people.
We offer hybrid working, with the flexibility to work from home some days each week and the rest based at our head office in Sale, Greater Manchester.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full range of day-to-day HR administration, including employee records, correspondence, contracts, and file management
- Independently manage end-to-end monthly payroll for the full employee base, ensuring accuracy across salaried and hourly staff, and authorising timesheets
- Lead and continuously improve HR policies and procedures in line with current employment legislation and Ofsted requirements, creating clear templates and guidance for employees and managers
- Design and deliver HR training to managers to build capability and compliance across the business
- Manage employee relations cases end-to-end, including disciplinary, grievance, and absence processes, acting as sole advisor to managers and chairing formal meetings
- Ensure consistent application of policy throughout the organisation
- Act as the primary point of contact for managers and employees on HR queries, providing clear, practical guidance and support
- Lead absence, maternity, and benefits processes in line with employment legislation, maintaining clear tools so employees understand their entitlements and payments
- Own the sickness and absence policy and tracking process, including trigger points, to proactively manage attendance and ensure accurate SSP calculations
- Conduct regular audits of employment files to maintain Ofsted compliance, refining recruitment and file-management practices based on inspection feedback
- Manage and optimise recruitment platforms and systems to keep administration efficient, cost-effective, and Ofsted compliant
- Maintain accurate HR data and employee records using HR systems such as Airtable
- Manage apprenticeship enrolments, including securing levy funding and liaising with training providers to keep apprentices on track
About You
- Proven experience in an HR Manager or senior HR generalist role, ideally within a regulated or Ofsted-inspected environment
- Experience independently managing end-to-end payroll processes
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment legislation and its practical application
- Confident, independent handling of complex and sensitive employee relations casework
- Experience designing and delivering training to non-HR managers
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to translate policy into clear, accessible guidance
- Highly organised, with a track record of improving HR processes and systems
- CIPD qualification (Level 3 or above) desirable
