Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Phlebotomist/Health Care Assistant to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples, assisting with patient care, and supporting clinical procedures within a GP clinical setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to patient safety.
Duties
- Collect blood samples using venipuncture and capillary techniques, ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Maintain aseptic technique during all procedures to prevent infection and ensure compliance with health regulations
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and provide basic life support when necessary
- Prepare patients for examinations or treatments, including explaining procedures clearly and compassionately
- Document all procedures accurately in accordance with surgery protocols
- Support laboratory activities by preparing specimens for analysis and maintaining sample integrity
- Ensure all equipment is sterilised, maintained, and stored correctly
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines at all times, including infection control protocols
Skills
- Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques with a focus on patient comfort and safety
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to patient care
- Skilled in aseptic technique to prevent contamination during procedures
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages
- Organised, attentive to detail, and capable of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
