You will be responsible for preparing and handling the transportation of deceased individuals with dignity and care, ensuring all procedures are conducted smoothly and efficiently. This flexible role involves supporting the day-to-day operation of our funeral service, together with participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
These positions may particularly suit retired emergency services personnel, military veterans, professional drivers, or those seeking additional income alongside existing employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting Funeral Directors in delivering funeral services with dignity, compassion and professionalism.
- Driving ceremonial and company vehicles, including hearses, limousines and private ambulances.
- Acting as a bearer and supporting families during funeral services in a respectful and considerate manner.
- Bringing loved ones into our care from homes, hospitals, care facilities and other locations, ensuring the highest standards of dignity and empathy are maintained at all times.
- Undertaking errands and practical duties as required by the Funeral Director.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of vehicles, equipment and premises to the highest standard.
- Participating in a 24-hour on-call rota and being available to respond to requests when required.
About You
- We are looking for individuals who are:
- Smart, well-presented and professional in appearance
- Physically fit as lifting is required
- Dependable, flexible and able to respond to calls when on duty.
- Holders of a full UK driving licence.
- Living within a reasonable travelling distance of our Head Office in Birkenshaw.
- Comfortable working within a sensitive environment and supporting bereaved families with discretion and empathy.
Pay: £12.71-£14.24 per hour
