Role Summary
We're looking for a friendly, proactive Showroom Assistant to cover a period of maternity leave. You'll be the first point of contact for customers visiting our showroom, while also supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the business through admin, showroom upkeep, and social media. You'll bring our products to life, guide customers through our range and services, convert leads and showroom visits into booked appointments, and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Please note: this is a maternity cover role and the exact end date will depend on when the substantive post-holder returns to work. We anticipate this will be for approximately 8 months, but this may be subject to change.
The hours are can be flexible but will need to include alternate Saturdays plus either 1 or 2 week days.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Engagement & Sales
- Greet and approach customers as they enter the showroom, creating a warm and welcoming first impression
- Guide customers around the showroom, showcasing kitchen and bedroom door styles, finishes, and features
- Clearly explain our products and services, including the facelift process and what's involved
- Answer customer questions confidently, understanding their needs and matching them to suitable options
- Call and follow up with online leads, explaining our services over the phone with a view to booking a showroom appointment
- Book customers in for showroom and free home design appointments, managing the diary accurately
- Handle enquiries by phone and in person, passing on relevant information to the design team
- Build rapport with customers to encourage repeat visits and referrals
Showroom Standards
- Ensure the showroom is clean, tidy, and well-presented at all times
- Carry out general cleaning duties to maintain showroom standards
- Keep displays and product samples in good condition and correctly presented
- Keep up to date on product ranges, pricing, and promotions
Admin & Coordination
- Manage delivery boards, keeping information accurate and up to date
- Assist with ordering stock and monitoring stock levels
- File and maintain paperwork accurately and in an organised manner
- Liaise with installers regarding scheduling and progress of installations
- Communicate with customers regarding their installation timelines and any updates
Marketing & Social Media
- Assist with creating and posting social media content to promote the showroom, products, and services
Skills & Experience
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both face-to-face and over the phone
- Confident approaching and engaging with customers
- Comfortable carrying out cleaning and general upkeep duties
- Good organisational skills, with strong attention to detail for admin, filing, and diary management
- Some familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) an advantage
- Sales or retail experience preferred, but not essential — full training provided
- Ability to multitask between customer-facing and behind-the-scenes responsibilities
- A positive, can-do attitude and reliable, punctual approach to work
