We are seeking a friendly and dedicated Deli Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting the daily operations of our deli counter, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and customer service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a keen eye for detail, contributing to a welcoming environment for our customers. Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of deli products, including slicing meats and cheeses, assembling sandwiches, and maintaining presentation standards.
- Serve customers efficiently and courteously, providing excellent customer service at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli area in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Restock supplies and ensure all products are properly labelled and rotated.
- Upsell additional items to maximise sales opportunities while ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist with general kitchen duties as required, including cleaning utensils and equipment.
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation or within a restaurant environment is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is advantageous.
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and portion control.
- Experience with serving customers in a fast-paced setting is preferred.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively during busy periods.
- Good communication skills and a friendly attitude towards customers and colleagues alike.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail.
- Culinary experience or kitchen background is a plus but not mandatory.
