Job Description
Reporting directly to the Production & QA Director, the Design engineer will be heavily involved in all logistical matters from On Site Meetings, Receipt of order, right through to Final dispatch to customers. The fundamental objective for the Design engineer is to ensure that items are produced and processed in line with Customer expectations. The Design engineer is responsible for converting concept to design, ensuring design lends itself to most efficient manufacturing techniques. Accuracy of work is fundamental to the success of this role, as is a passion for supplying the best customer experience through the technical process. An ability to Communicate and work face to face with Clients on site and through the full design process is a must
Duties
- Assist in producing detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and SolidWorks
- Prepare schematics and technical drawings
- Support the modification and updating of existing CAD drawings based on project requirements
- Collaborate with senior designers and engineers to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications
- Contribute to the review of design documents to identify potential issues or improvements
- Maintain organised digital files and documentation for easy retrieval and version control
- Participate in project meetings to understand client needs and project objectives
Requirements
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and SolidWorks is highly desirable
- Assisting with creating BOMS on MRP System (SAGE)
- Basic understanding of schematics and technical drawing principles
- Prior engineering experience is advantageous but not essential
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
- Good communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- A proactive attitude with a keen interest in developing CAD expertise within an engineering environment.
