SALARY: £38,500

PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Assistant Area Manager is a full time, hand on role working closely with the Area Manager to support the effective delivery of cleaning services across a portfolio of client sites.
The role focuses on a day-to-day operational support, team supervision, standards control and issue resolution. Acting as a key operational link between site teams and the Area manager, the Assistant Area Manager helps ensure consistency of service, strong staff engagement, and timely response to client and operational issues.
This Role is operational and developmental in nature and is suited to someone progressing towards a senior management position within facilities or cleaning operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations
- Supporting the Area Manager with the day-to-day management of Housekeeping and Out of Hours operations across allocated sites
- Assisting with staff scheduling, rota management and ensuring adequate site coverage
- Carrying out regular site visits to monitor service delivery, cleanliness standards and staff presentation
- Ensuring cleaning specifications, task lists and equipment requirements are clearly understood and followed on site
- Supporting new site mobilisations, changes in service delivery and cover arrangements
Client & Issue Management
- Supporting timely responses to operational tickets and client requests (e.g. via Freshservice) in line with agreed SLAs
- Escalating recurring or high-risk issues to the Area Manager with clear information and suggested actions
- Supporting on-site problem solving to prevent repeat complaints and service disruptions
Training, Standards & Compliance
- Supporting induction and on-the-job training for new starters and existing operatives
- Reinforcing health & safety procedures and safe working practices on site
- Completing site inspections and internal audits as delegated by the Area Manager
- Supporting the close-out of audit actions and service improvement plans
People Management Support
- Acting as a first point of contact for operatives on day-to-day issues such as attendance, conduct and queries
- Supporting performance conversations, absence management and return-to-work processes
- Promoting a positive, inclusive and professional team culture aligned with Sidekick values
- Carrying out investigations and escalating formal HR matters to the Area Manager as required
Payroll, Systems & Administration
- Supporting accurate completion and review of timesheets
- Ensuring operatives are correctly using workforce systems (e.g. Deputy) for schedules, attendance and leave
- Flagging payroll risks, missing data or anomalies to the Area Manager in a timely manner
SKILLS & BEHAVIOURS
- Experience in a supervisory or junior management role within cleaning or facilities services
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with site teams and clients
- Proactive, practical and solutions-focused mindset
- Able to work flexibly across sites and respond to operational priorities
- Basic understanding of health & safety requirements within cleaning operations
- Ambition to develop into a senior operational leadership role
- Team player who leads by example
