We have an exciting opportunity working with the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner to deliver a service across Hampshire for young offenders.
The successful candidate will be fully involved in all aspects of day-to-day management of the service including the line managing of a small staff team. You will supervise, lead and develop staff whilst ensuring the smooth running of the service, working effectively with Police/Criminal Justice Partners. You will work closely as part of a management team to support the service manager to develop the service ensuring service targets are met and we are achieving positive outcomes for service users.
You will support the East and West RESET Navigators by managing a small caseload of 18-25yr olds suspected of committing an offence or are at risk of becoming drawn into the criminal justice system. Working closely with the local Policy (VCT) Violent Crime taskforce to identify suitable individuals and provide a strength-based trauma informed service to ensure the young adults have every available opportunity to lead a healthy crime-free life.
You will also be lone working across the county forging partnerships to motivate and support service users to: improve their daily living skills, retain and sustain their accommodation, engage with meaningful occupation or learning opportunities, and promote empowerment and independence.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have knowledge and/or experience of working with individuals with complex needs and have knowledge of the criminal justice system and related issues. Managing a small team and caseload, you will have excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to be flexible and work on your own initiative. You will have experience of having good decision-making/problem solving skills and be solution focused. You will have experience of managing people and have good task management skills. You will have good partnership working skills and IT skills.
Essentially a motivated individual who will be able to demonstrate:
- Excellent leadership and task management skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills to effectively balance a caseload and line management functions.
- Experience of having good decision-making skills and demonstrate to having a problem-solving attitude and approach
- Experience/Knowledge of working with people with diverse needs and histories of homelessness, mental health problems, offending behaviour and/or substance misuse
- Knowledge of local organisations providing support, interventions and employment/learning opportunities to young adults.
- Experience of working creatively to motivate and engage young adults.
- Understanding of equality and diversity, with respect to staff and service users.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and protection procedures and protocols for vulnerable adults.
- Essential car user due to the nature of the role.
- Police Vetting required for this role.
