Job Description
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an enthusiastic and commercially minded Business Rates Surveyor to join our team.
The successful candidate will assist in reviewing and analysing clients' business rate assessments, identifying opportunities for appeals, reductions and savings, and supporting clients throughout the rating process. The role involves:
- Review and analyse Rating List assessments.
- Inspect commercial properties where required.
- Identify opportunities to challenge incorrect or excessive rateable values.
- Prepare evidence and submissions for business rates appeals.
- Liaise with clients, Valuation Office Agency (VOA) and other stakeholders.
- Negotiate settlements and submit appeals to Valuation Tribunals when required.
- Maintain accurate records and case management information.
- Communicate clearly with clients and team members
- Working effectively in a small but experienced Team
- Good IT skills (Word, Excel, MS Outlook) familiarity with Rating software Riverlake and Analyse beneficial
Experience
- Experience in Business Rates and Rating Valuation
- MRICS qualification (preferred but not essential)
- Experience in providing rating advice and negotiating appeals
- Detailed knowledge of rating legislation and case law
- Good general surveying and inspection skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Commercially astute and able to assist with business development
