Location: Howson Care Centre, Marton Road, Willingham by Stow, Gainsborough, DN21 5JU.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head Cook to join our friendly nursing home team. Our home has 83 registered beds and you will play an important role in preparing fresh, nutritious, and enjoyable meals for our residents, ensuring their dietary needs and preferences are always met.
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and service while leading and supporting the kitchen team. This role will include alternate weekend working.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare and cook high-quality meals for residents
· Create varied menus suitable for individual dietary requirements
· Ensure meals are nutritious, well-presented, and served on time
· Manage kitchen stock, ordering, and food costs
· Maintain excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards
· Complete kitchen records and follow compliance procedures
· Support and supervise kitchen staff
Requirements:
· Previous experience as a Head Cook, Senior Cook, or similar role
· Experience in a care home, nursing home, or catering environment is desirable
· Knowledge of food hygiene standards, dietary requirements and the IDDSI Framework
· Hold Level 3 or above in Food Hygiene
· Strong organisational and leadership skills
· A caring and positive attitude towards residents
