Quay 2 Quay was set up to provide passenger ferry services and tours in and around the Solent in the UK. Starting with a service between Lymington and Yarmouth (Isle of Wight), the company’s intention is to offer greater customer choice using a state-of-the-art boat with enclosed and open passenger accommodation.
The Company is looking to hire a Boat Master to assist with these services.
The ideal candidate will have a maritime background and experience in vessel operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform the duties of Boat Master to command, manoeuvre & navigate the vessel.
- Conduct pre-deployment checks, equipment testing & weather assessment.
- Monitor systems and address any operational issues.
- Command and manage the crew, ensuring the safety of all persons and equipment.
- Maintain vessels in accordance with maritime regulations and company standards.
- Implement and oversee safety procedures including risk assessments to safeguard the passengers, crew, the vessel, infrastructure, other vessels and the environment.
Minimum Requirements (MSN 1853 refers):
One of the following:
- Boat Master License Tier 2 Level 2, including operation in Cat. D waters of the Solent, allowing carriage of up to 112 passengers between Lymington & Yarmouth (IOW); or
- BML Tier 1 Level 2, allowing carriage of up to 112 passengers.
In addition to the above:
- Medical certification ENG1 or ML5 - suitable for solo watchkeeping & lookout duties.
- GMDSS Short Range or Restricted Operators License or higher.
- MCA approved training in Personal Survival; First Aid; Fire Safety; or
- Completion of the relevant MSQ units in lieu of the above 3 courses.
- Competence in navigation, leadership, management, seamanship & maintenance.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass background checks.
Pay: Up to £45,000.00 per year
