Calling All Care, Youth, and Support Workers!
Are you an experienced care professional, support worker, or youth worker looking for a change of pace? If you are seeking better pay, flexible hours, and a move away from grueling shift work while still making a profound difference in young people's lives, this role could be your perfect next step. You do not need a formal teaching qualification to succeed here—your experience in managing complex needs, building trust, and safeguarding is exactly what we are looking for.
Job Description

This is a flexible, initially 0-hour contract with the view to offer a fixed term contract after a 3 month probationary period. This role would be suited to individuals who are passionate about re-engaging young people who have struggled in mainstream education. Tutors will deliver personalised, one-to-one or small group sessions focused on both developmental and educational milestones. You will be working with children who have a range of additional needs, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, neurodiversity, and other complex diagnoses.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor and Guide: Build positive, trusting relationships with young people who may be reluctant to engage.
- Holistic Support: Plan and deliver tailored sessions that meet individual learning, emotional, and developmental needs.
- Empower: Support students to build their confidence, life skills, and re-engage with their education.
- Adapt: Use your background in care or support to adapt your approach to suit a variety of learning styles and behavioral needs.
- Safeguard: Work in line with safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
- Collaborate: Liaise with families, schools, social workers, and other professionals where appropriate.
- Record: Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress, and outcomes.
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults, particularly those with additional needs.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe in Education (training can be provided/refreshed).
- Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
- Willingness to travel across Suffolk and surrounding areas.
- Willingness to complete mandatory training prior to starting.
Desirable (Your Care Background Shines Here!):
- Experience supporting children and young people with complex needs, trauma, or challenging behaviors.
- Background in residential care, social work, youth work, or specialized support.
Additional Information
- True Flexibility: Work will be allocated based on your availability, experience, and location. You manage your own time.
