This role offers a starting salary within Nacro’s pay structure of £28,851 with expected progression to £29,572 Established within the first year, subject to meeting clear criteria and performance standards, with further pay progression available in the future. Nacro’s pay framework provides transparent progression points and supports ongoing professional development and career growth
Please note: This role requires regular travel across an allocated area and therefore, a Full Driving License and access to your own vehicle with business insurance are essential.

About the role
Are you passionate about helping children and young people achieve positive outcomes and reach their full potential?
We are looking for a Young People Practitioner to join our team and provide tailored, person-centred support to children and young people. You will work directly with young people through individual psychosocial interventions, education and outreach, helping them to achieve their goals and make positive changes in their lives.
You will manage an allocated caseload and deliver support across a range of settings, including schools, community venues and, where appropriate, young people's homes. Working collaboratively with families, schools, safeguarding services and other partner agencies, you will help ensure that young people receive the right support at the right time.

What you will be doing
- Manage an allocated caseload of children and young people, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
- Deliver age-appropriate one-to-one psychosocial support and interventions.
- Carry out outreach work and home visits where appropriate to engage young people and their families.
- Deliver drug and alcohol awareness and harm reduction education to individuals and groups.
- Complete assessments and risk assessments, developing and regularly reviewing effective support plans.
- Support young people to achieve their goals and promote their wellbeing, resilience and independence.
- Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, following relevant procedures and policies.
- Attend safeguarding meetings, child protection conferences and other multi-agency meetings as required.
- Work closely with schools, social care, health professionals, youth services and other partner agencies to coordinate effective support.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and timely case records and produce reports as required.
- Contribute to service development, outreach and community engagement activities.
- Ensure all frontline delivery meets contractual requirements and is delivered to a consistently high standard.
- Positively represent Nacro and build effective professional relationships with colleagues and external partners.
What you will bring
We are looking for someone who has experience of working with children and young people in a support, health, education or community setting. You will have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, as well as the challenges that can affect young people, including substance misuse and mental health.
You will ideally have experience of delivering one-to-one psychosocial interventions or similar support and be confident in assessing needs and risks and developing practical, achievable support plans.
You will also have:
- Relevant qualifications or experience in health and social care.
- Experience of safeguarding and working within safeguarding procedures.
- An understanding of substance misuse, mental health and issues affecting children and young people.
- The ability to build positive, professional relationships with young people and their families.
- Strong communication, organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Experience of working collaboratively with multiple agencies and professionals.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
- A full, current driving licence and the ability to travel as required by the role.
