We are seeking a Technical Services Manager to supervise and lead the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team, providing overall direction, coordination and evaluation of site maintenance activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring engineering and maintenance services are delivered safely, effectively and in line with organisational policies and applicable legislation.
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced technical services professional with strong people management capabilities and a solid understanding of building services engineering.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage maintenance operations, drive service performance and support compliance across critical facilities environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team.
- Manage day-to-day engineering and maintenance activities across site(s).
- Conduct appraisals, manage performance improvement plans and resolve employee issues.
- Ensure all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive work orders are completed within agreed timescales.
- Allocate maintenance tasks and work tickets effectively across the team.
- Monitor service delivery performance and maintain quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with statutory maintenance requirements and achieve PPM compliance targets of 95% to 100%.
- Support High Voltage (HV) shutdowns, critical electrical maintenance activities and contractor management, while producing operational and maintenance reports.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Qualifications & Technical Knowledge
- Vocational qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Strong experience in Technical Services within a building services environment.
- Experience within Facilities Management, ideally in Financial Services, Manufacturing, Industrial or Healthcare environments.
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical building systems.
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and critical environments.
- Understanding of statutory compliance requirements and maintenance legislation.
- Previous people management experience.
Skills & Experience
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, regulations and procedures.
- Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to use maintenance tools, test equipment and engineering systems.
- Good analytical and numerical skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure within operational and critical environments.
- Willingness and capability to act as, or work towards becoming, the Senior Authorised Person (SAP) Electrical and LVAP/HVAP appointment for sites.
