Jewellery Workshop & Retail Assistant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Workshop & Retail Assistant to join our small, friendly jewellery company on a full-time basis.
We are currently seeking someone for an initial 12-month period, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who is confident, hardworking, creative, and eager to learn new skills within a traditional jewellery workshop environment. We’re looking for a motivated individual who can manage and prioritise their workload while becoming an important part of our small team.
The role will be split approximately:
- 90% Workshop
- 10% Front of House Retail
Workshop Duties
Working alongside our workshop team to assist in the creation of our handmade sterling silver jewellery, including:
- Polishing and finishing jewellery
- Drilling and ear-wiring earrings
- Creating simple bangles using traditional silversmithing techniques
- Assisting with general workshop tasks and jewellery production
Full training will be provided for all workshop duties, so previous jewellery-making experience is not essential. However, a genuine willingness to learn, attention to detail, and an interest in handmade craftsmanship are extremely important.
Front of House Duties
As part of our small team, you will also assist within our jewellery shop, including:
- Serving and assisting customers
- Answering telephone enquiries
- Fulfilling online orders
- Replying to customer emails
- General shop upkeep and presentation
Confident customer service skills and basic computer skills are essential for this role.
Working Hours
- Standard hours: 9am – 5pm
- Christmas period hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm
- 5 days per week, including some weekend work during December
- Hourly wage is dependant on experience
- Quarterly Bonus in addition to wage
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to drive, as Hatton Shopping Village has limited public transport access
- Must like dogs - our workshop dog Oscar is part of the team and comes to work every day
