1.1 Job Purpose
The Warehouse Operative is responsible for supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse and wider operations function, ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, handling, and dispatch of goods.
Working as part of a collaborative operations team, the role contributes to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service while supporting the timely delivery of projects. 1.2 Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, movement, and dispatch of goods.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of delivery vehicles, particularly during peak operational periods.
- Book goods into and out of the warehouse, ensuring all stock movements are accurately recorded.
- Move stock safely and efficiently between warehouse locations as required.
- Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for dispatch in accordance with company quality standards.
- Collate dispatch paperwork, delivery documentation, and run sheets for outbound deliveries.
- Book delivery slots for inbound goods and coordinate with suppliers and transport providers.
- Monitor vehicle arrivals and proactively chase late deliveries to minimise operational disruption.
- Collect, upload, and maintain Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation in line with agreed service levels.
- Assist in resolving invoice and delivery queries by liaising with internal departments and external suppliers.
- Build and assemble furniture and other required items in accordance with company specifications and quality standards
- Maintain accurate stock records, conduct routine stock checks, and report damaged or missing items promptly.
- Ensure warehouse areas are kept clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety procedures.
- Provide general operational and warehouse support, undertaking additional duties as required to meet business needs.
- Contribute to achieving operational performance targets and company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through efficient, accurate, and proactive working practices.
2 Skills & Competencies
2.1 Essential
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Valid Reach Truck and Counterbalance Forklift Truck licences/certificates.
- Previous experience working within a warehouse and logistics environment.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling stock, documentation, and systems.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
2.2 Desirable (Advantageous)
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Card.
- Working knowledge of Sage 200.
- Asbestos Awareness certification.
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) qualification.
- Experience of furniture assembly, installation, or a related operational environment.
Pay: £24,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
