Job Title: Healthcare Assistant – Clinical & Personal Support
Location: Ripponden, West Yorkshire
Pay: £15.50 per hour, minimum £148 per shift.
Hours: average 16-20hrs a week over 2 shifts. A shift includes 7-hour day time, (8am - 3pm or 7am - 2pm) and an overnight oncall (done from your own home, fixed fee £40), minimum 8 shifts per month plus occasional extras for cover.
Flexible, including weekends, bank holidays, and occasional travel.
Start date: Sept 2026 preferred (negotiable).
No previous care experience necessary as full training is provided.
Overview:We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to provide clinical, personal, and domestic support to a 36-year-old woman with a spinal-cord injury. You will help her live her professional, personal, and social life independently, working as part of a small, supportive care team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical & Personal Care: Bladder/bowel management, bathing, dressing, support with medication, administration, physiotherapy, and exercises.
- Social Support: Accompany to medical appointments, work, social events, exercise, pet care, and UK or international trips.
- Domestic Duties: Cooking, meal prep, grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, light gardening.
- Flexibility to cover team absences and adapt to daily needs.
Requirements:
- Comfortable providing personal and clinical care in a home environment.
- Full UK driving license (no endorsements) and willingness to drive employer’s vehicle.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, occasionally staying away.
- Eligible to work in the UK; pass an enhanced DBS and criminal records check.
- Reliable, flexible, positive, honest, and able to work independently.
- Understanding of home care and spinal-cord injuries useful but not essential, full training given.
- Comfortable around pets (dogs) and assisting with their care.
