Beyond Healthcare Medical agency is working with a well-established housing provider dedicated to supporting vulnerable people to live independently and safely in the community. We manage supported and sheltered housing schemes in Harlow and surrounding areas, helping residents maintain their tenancies, develop life skills, and achieve greater independence.
About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Supported Housing Assistant to join our team in Harlow. You will cover two schemes, providing practical and emotional support to residents living in our supported housing schemes, helping them sustain their tenancies and live as independently as possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day housing-related support to residents
- Assist with tenancy sustainment, including rent and benefit advice
- Help residents develop life skills (budgeting, shopping, cooking, household management)
- Carry out welfare checks and support planning
- Report maintenance issues and ensure communal areas are safe and well-maintained
- Liaise with external agencies (social services, health professionals, benefits agencies)
- Maintain accurate records and complete support plans
- Promote independence and positive outcomes for residents
- Work as part of a supportive team and cover shifts as required
Essential Requirements
- Experience of working in supported housing, care, or with vulnerable adults (preferred)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgemental approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (MUST)
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Previous experience in sheltered or supported housing
- Knowledge of Housing Benefit, Universal Credit, or tenancy management
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent
