Enchanted Nursery is family run independent children's nursery in Alton, Hampshire, with a reputation for providing first-class care and a wonderful home-cooked menu. We provide a homely and safe environment for our children and have invested hugely to make sure that we provide the highest quality facilities and provision for our babies up to pre-school age. We provide on site daily prepared meals for the children with substantial lunches and a lighter tea. Breakfast and snacks are also provided morning and afternoon.
We have a large established team who ensure our nursery day to day is a happy, friendly and welcoming environment for all of our employees current and new. We are looking for a positive personality that is good with teamworking and happy to be around our wonderful children. This role would suit anyone who enjoys working in a kitchen, maybe looking for a career in catering, or even for someone who has enjoyed a fast paced career in catering and would like more flexibility and slow down a little. Experience of working in a kitchen team already would be a bonus.
We’re looking for a creative and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to prepare and serve the children's food from our planned menu in our commercial kitchen every afternoon Monday to Friday from 2-6pm. Working alone each afternoon you would run the kitchen after our Nursery Chef has finished for the day. Following the afternoon tea preparation for the children, you would be ensuring our kitchen is cleaned to a high standard and closed down appropriately. There is baking on some days and time management is of the essence. The Kitchen assistant role is one of great importance in our nursery and our children all have wonderful appetites and look forward to mealtimes.
This would be a training on the job role, and additional hours would be available to cook the main children's meals when our nursery chef is on holiday. You will need to speak good English, be healthy and active, have knowledge of allergies, be organised, appreciate the importance of health and nutrition and have a love of food and children.
Your role as a Kitchen Assistant will include
- Supporting the full-time chef to create healthy, nutritious meals using fresh ingredients.
- Maintaining a 5* EHO/Scores on the doors rating
- Ensuring that children are served the correct food, being aware of allergies at all times.
- Ensuring that hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen is of the highest standard in accordance with Environmental Health requirements and legislation.
- Responsible for the full closure of the kitchen each evening.

Starting Salary: £14.00 dependant on experience
