The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and professional Bar Manager to join a busy hotel operation near Dundee.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident hospitality professional with a proven track record of managing busy hotel bars and delivering consistently high standards of service.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the bar, leading the team, managing stock and ensuring excellent guest experiences.
A minimum of 4 years' bar management experience within a hotel environment is essential, along with a valid Scottish Personal Licence.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the hotel bar.
- Lead, motivate and develop the bar team.
- Maintain consistently high standards of service, presentation and guest experience.
- Manage bar rotas, staffing levels, training and team performance.
- Ensure responsible service of alcohol and full compliance with Scottish licensing legislation.
- Maintain and operate within the requirements of the hotel's licensing conditions.
- Manage stock levels, ordering, deliveries and stock rotation.
- Monitor wastage, margins and beverage costs.
- Maintain accurate stock control and inventory procedures.
- Ensure the bar is fully prepared and operational for busy services and events.
- Work closely with the wider F&B and hotel management teams.
- Support weddings, functions, conferences and private events where required.
- Deal confidently and professionally with guest feedback and complaints.
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, health & safety and presentation.
- Develop beverage knowledge and service standards across the team.
- Lead by example and remain hands-on during busy periods.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 4 years' Bar Management experience – essential.
- Strong hotel bar management experience – essential.
- Valid Scottish Personal Licence – essential.
- Excellent knowledge of Scottish licensing legislation and responsible alcohol service.
- Proven experience managing and developing a bar team.
- Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, beers, cocktails and beverage service.
- Experience managing bar stock, ordering, margins and wastage.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of beverage costs.
- Excellent guest service and communication skills.
- A confident, professional and approachable personality.
- The ability to remain calm and organised during busy services.
- A hands-on approach to management and service.
- Experience supporting weddings, functions and hotel events would be advantageous.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and busy hotel periods.
- Must be able to commute, as accommodation is not available.
- Available for an immediate start.
