Senior Care Worker
Reports to:
Registered Manager / Deputy Manager
Purpose of the Role
The Senior Care Worker plays a key role in supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in the effective day-to-day running of the home. This includes taking responsibility for the home in their absence, ensuring safe, high-quality, person-centred care is delivered at all times.
The post holder will lead by example, support and supervise care staff, and contribute to the continuous improvement of care standards within the service.
Key Responsibilities
Care Delivery
- Promote and deliver high standards of person-centred care, ensuring dignity, respect, and independence are maintained at all times.
- Support residents with personal care needs, including washing, dressing, toileting, and bathing.
- Assist residents with mobility needs, including safe use of equipment.
- Support residents with physical disabilities and continence needs.
- Respond promptly to call bells and emergencies.
Medication & Clinical Responsibilities
- Administer medication in line with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate medication records.
- Monitor residents’ wellbeing and report concerns.
Leadership & Team Support
- Lead and support care staff on shift.
- Assist with induction and development of staff.
- Promote a positive team culture.
- Take charge in absence of management.
Care Planning & Documentation
- Contribute to care plans and risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate care records and reports.
Multi-Disciplinary Working
- Work with GPs, district nurses and professionals.
- Communicate with families and visitors.
Communication & Meetings
- Attend staff meetings and training.
- Ensure effective communication.
General Duties
- Carry out reasonable duties as required.
- Maintain a safe environment.
Competence & Professional Development
- Hold or work towards Level 3 Health and Social Care.
- Participate in appraisal and reviews.
- Undertake training as required.
