About the Role
As a Senior Support Worker / Shift Leader, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day leadership of the home, leading shifts and supporting your colleagues to deliver the highest standards of care.
You'll build positive, trusting relationships with young people, providing consistent guidance, encouragement and support while helping them develop confidence, resilience and independence.
Working closely with the Registered Manager and wider team, you'll help create a safe, structured and therapeutic environment where young people feel secure, valued and able to thrive.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead shifts and act as the senior practitioner on duty.
- Deliver high-quality, child-centred care and support.
- Build positive, trusting and therapeutic relationships with young people.
- Support young people with daily routines, education, appointments, family contact and recreational activities.
- Mentor, guide and support Residential Support Workers to deliver excellent care.
- Promote safeguarding, positive behaviour support and trauma-informed practice.
- Complete and review care records, incident reports and other documentation to a high standard.
- Work collaboratively with families, social workers, education providers and other professionals.
- Help create a safe, nurturing and stable home environment where children and young people can flourish.
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about improving the lives of children and young people, confident in leading others and committed to delivering exceptional care.
You'll have:
- A minimum of two years' experience working within a children's residential setting or a similar environment.
- A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or be working towards it).
- Experience leading or supporting shifts within a residential childcare service.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, trauma-informed care and behaviour management.
- Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- A calm, resilient and compassionate approach.
- A genuine commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
- A full UK driving licence (preferred).
