Rural West Primary Care Network – Pharmacy Technician Vacancy
The Rural West Primary Care Network (PCN) is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technician to work alongside our two existing Pharmacy Technicians and as part of our PCN’s wider team to enhance our friendly, busy network of Practices. The Network consists of two GP Partnerships in north Hampshire; Tadley Medical Partnership and Watership Down Health, with surgeries in Kingsclere, Overton, Oakley and Tadley.
The qualified and registered Pharmacy Technician will work with our clinical Pharmacists to support them and the GPs in prescribing for the patients of Rural West PCN. The purpose of the role is to assist the PCN Pharmacists to maximise safe and cost effective best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. The post holder will help patients to get the best from their medicines by switching medications to agreed and approved protocols, improving repeat prescribing processes in General Practice, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines.
The post holder will be responsible for assisting the PCN Pharmacists in encouraging the development of better understanding of the principles of medicines optimisation throughout the practice teams and promoting good practice in line with Network aims. This will involve assisting the Network in achieving national requirements, guideline implementation, patient safety audits and utilisation of medicines optimisation initiatives.
The role requires accreditation in the 15 month CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway; Pharmacy Technicians who have already completed a previous CPPE pathway, or have a considerable amount of prior knowledge, skill and experience that they can demonstrate, may be exempt from part of/all the pathway. For those who have partially or wholly completed this training, the salary would reflect this experience; for those requiring this training, the PCN will provide full support.
The post is full time (i.e. 37.5 hours per week, Mondays to Fridays) and is predominantly surgery based, requiring travel within the Network to the surgeries of both Partnerships, so flexibility of working and access to private transport is essential.
