Main Purpose:
To provide specialist trauma informed support to children, young people, and families affected by domestic abuse, helping them to increase safety, recover from trauma, and build healthier family relationships
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct child-focused assessments to identify emotional, developmental, educational, and safeguarding needs.
- Develop and deliver tailored support plans for children, including therapeutic play, emotional wellbeing activities, and safety planning.
- Work with parents to strengthen parenting capacity and rebuild safe, nurturing relationships with their children.
- Liaise with schools, health professionals, social workers and other agencies to ensure coordinated support for children and families.
- Support families with practical issues related to accommodation, including routines, boundaries, and communal living.
General
- Effectively manage your workload and your personal development.
- Contribute to the co-ordination of the work of the wider team to ensure delivery of priorities agreed with your manager.
- Demonstrate total professionalism and propriety in all aspects of work.
- Make a positive contribution to team working and communicate effectively with the commissioners, partners and colleagues.
- Be able to work within the Safeguarding arena following organisation policies and procedures, be able to Recognise; Respond to; Report and Record Safeguarding issues and understand and make quality Safeguarding Referrals.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Experience working with children and families affected by domestic abuse, trauma or safeguarding concerns.
- Experience in assessing needs and client focused support planning.
- Strong understanding of child development, attachment and the impact of domestic abuse.
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
Other Essential Requirements
- Car driver with access to vehicle
- Subject to Enhanced DBS check
- Ability to work outside the normal office hours working flexibly within the shift pattern allocated by the line manager
