TRANSPORT & HOME DELIVERY MANAGER
Location: Minworth, Birmingham
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 per year
Bonus: Performance-related bonus with OTE up to £50,000

ABOUT THE ROLE
Lee Longlands is looking for an experienced Transport & Home Delivery Manager to take full ownership of our transport and customer-delivery operation at Minworth.
This is an improvement-led role for someone who can combine effective day-to-day management with the ability to improve productivity, control costs and raise delivery standards.
You will be responsible for our drivers and delivery crews, routing and scheduling, fleet performance, transport compliance and the successful delivery of furniture to our customers.
Working alongside our Warehouse Manager, who retains responsibility for stock, goods in and out and the warehouse operation, you will ensure that our transport and home-delivery functions operate safely, efficiently and professionally.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, manage and develop our drivers and delivery crews
- Take ownership of daily routing, scheduling and delivery planning
- Improve driver productivity and vehicle utilisation
- Monitor delivery performance against agreed service and productivity measures
- Ensure vehicles, drivers and working practices comply with all relevant transport legislation
- Maintain accurate records relating to drivers, vehicles, defects, servicing and compliance
- Reduce failed deliveries, product damages and customer-service issues
- Investigate incidents, accidents, damages and recurring delivery problems
- Control agency labour, overtime, external delivery and other distribution costs
- Ensure delivery crews provide customers with a professional and consistent service
- Introduce clear performance measures and accountability across the department
- Work closely with the warehouse and customer-service teams to resolve operational issues
- Identify and implement practical improvements to processes, systems and working practices
- Support recruitment, induction, training, performance management and absence management within the transport team
- Promote a strong culture of safety, ownership, teamwork and continuous improvement
ABOUT YOU
You will be an experienced operational manager with a background in transport, distribution, home delivery or a comparable customer-facing delivery environment.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Previous responsibility for managing drivers and delivery teams
- Strong routing, scheduling and resource-planning experience
- Knowledge of transport compliance and fleet-management requirements
- A record of improving productivity, service standards or operating costs
- Confidence managing performance and holding people accountable
- Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills
- The ability to analyse performance information and turn it into practical action
- A hands-on, visible and improvement-focused management style
- A strong commitment to customer service and safe working practices
Experience within furniture, retail, two-person home delivery or another bulky-goods operation would be advantageous.
TRANSPORT MANAGER CPC
Transport Manager CPC is highly desirable but not essential.
For an exceptional candidate who does not currently hold the qualification, we would consider providing support to achieve it within the first 12 months of employment.

- Basic salary of £40,000–£45,000, depending on experience
