Mixologist / Bartender
The Vale Hotel – Cricklade, Wiltshire
We are looking for a confident and creative Mixologist / Bartender to join the team at The Vale Hotel in Cricklade.
This role will initially be focused mainly around weekend shifts, with the potential for additional hours as the venue develops and trade increases.
You will primarily support our cocktail offering, preparing high-quality drinks and delivering a polished guest experience, while also being flexible enough to work across our other bar areas during quieter periods or when additional support is needed.
The Role
This is a hands-on bar role suited to someone who genuinely enjoys hospitality, understands cocktails and takes pride in presentation, consistency and customer service.
Responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and serving cocktails to a consistently high standard
- Following agreed cocktail recipes and presentation standards
- Preparing garnishes, syrups and other cocktail ingredients
- Setting up and closing down the cocktail bar
- Maintaining a clean, organised and well-stocked bar area
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages
- Supporting stock rotation and reducing unnecessary waste
- Serving beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks when working across the wider venue
- Supporting other bar areas during quieter periods where required
- Providing friendly and attentive customer service
- Handling payments and using the till system
- Maintaining responsible alcohol service standards
- Supporting busy weekend and event services
- Working closely with the wider front-of-house team
- Helping create a lively, welcoming atmosphere for guests
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous cocktail or bartending experience
- Is confident preparing cocktails from scratch
- Has good knowledge of spirits, mixers and classic cocktails
- Has strong attention to detail and presentation
- Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Is friendly, professional and confident with customers
- Is reliable and able to work independently when required
- Is happy to work flexibly across different bar areas
- Is available for weekend and evening work
- Can remain calm and organised during busy service periods
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Cocktail bars
- Hotels or hospitality venues
- High-volume weekend service
- Premium spirits
- Cocktail menu development
- Garnish preparation
- Events or live entertainment venues
- Stock control
- Bar opening and closing procedures
Formal mixology qualifications are welcome but are not essential if you have strong practical experience.
Hours
This role will initially be mainly weekend-based, including Friday and Saturday evenings, with additional shifts potentially available depending on events, bookings and business requirements.
There is potential for more regular hours as the venue develops.
Applicants should therefore be comfortable with a flexible working pattern.
Accommodation
On-site accommodation may be available where required, depending on availability and individual circumstances.
This may be particularly useful for applicants travelling from outside the immediate area or working late weekend shifts.
