About us
The Village Inn sits at the heart of Ulwell Holiday Park, a family owned and operated park on the edge of Swanage, in the Isle of Purbeck. We run a busy, fresh-food kitchen — most things are made in house — and we're proud of serving honest, quality food to guests and locals alike.
The role
We're looking for a strong, hands-on Second Chef to work alongside our Head Chef. This isn't a "follow the spec sheet" job: you'll have real autonomy to create your own dishes and genuine input into the menu. We want someone who brings their own ideas — and is open to learning a little something from us too.
You'll be the natural second-in-command, running the kitchen confidently when the Head Chef is away.
Day to day, you'll:
- Prepare and cook fresh food to a consistently high standard during busy services
- Develop and contribute your own dishes to the menu
- Lead the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
- Maintain a clean, organised station and uphold food hygiene and health & safety standards
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, and keep stock replenished through the shift
About you
- Experienced chef ready to step up, or an established second chef looking for more creative freedom
- A natural leader with great communication skills and an eye for detail
- A genuine passion for quality, fresh food cooked from scratch
- Calm and hands-on in a busy service
