We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering company based in Halesowen. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a growing business delivering bespoke mechanical and pipework solutions across the Water, Food, Oil & Gas and Petrochemical sectors.
Working as part of an experienced engineering team, you will be responsible for developing practical, cost-effective design solutions from initial concept through to manufacture and installation. You'll work closely with project managers, clients and site teams, ensuring designs meet customer specifications, British Standards and project requirements.
The Role
- Design mechanical pipework systems and associated equipment using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Produce detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, installation drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings and client specifications to develop compliant design solutions.
- Ensure designs consider site access, installation methods, maintenance requirements and health & safety.
- Attend client meetings, both on-site and remotely, to discuss technical requirements and provide engineering support.
- Manage design revisions throughout the project lifecycle, incorporating client feedback and site modifications.
- Maintain accurate drawing registers, project documentation and revision records.
- Provide technical support to project managers, estimators, fabrication teams and site engineers when required.
What We're Looking For
- BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (HNC/HND or equivalent experience will also be considered).
- Previous experience designing pipework systems or mechanical process equipment.
- Industry experience within the Water, Food Manufacturing, Oil & Gas or Petrochemical sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, ideally including Routing and Weldments.
- Welding / Fabrication experience essential.
- Good AutoCAD experience, including preparing customer drawings for SolidWorks.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, technical drawings and engineering specifications.
- Experience producing fabrication drawings and supporting projects through manufacture and installation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and internal teams.
- FEA or hand calculation experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
