We are currently looking for a Deputy Manager to work closely with the Manager of the nursery. Previous supervisory or deputy management experience is required for this post.
You need to have the skills to give support to the Manager as well as the rest of the team, must be dedicated and passionate about working with children and their families to deliver an enhanced care and learning experience in a safe environment, with a sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, Safeguarding & Welfare.
The desirable candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work in partnership with parents and be able to manage, motivate and inspire The Wendy House team. Additionally, the candidate must be reliable, realistic, motivated and a creative thinker who has a good sense of humour.
Responsibilities include:-
· Supporting the manager with the overall day to day running of the nursery, as well as being responsible for some administrative duties.
· The ability to deliver an appropriate play and fun based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress and to support other staff in doing so.
· Overseeing the delivery of the EYFS through inclusive practice, ensuring a high level of learning and development is achieved by all children attending the nursery.
· To undertake designated officer roles as directed.
· To undertake appraisals and supervisions
· The ability to work with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families
· Understand and work to nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies
· To plan activities which ensure each child is working towards the early learning goals and support others in doing so
· To be a key person.
· To ensure records are properly maintained
· To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement.
· To help ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times by keeping up to date with current Ofsted legislation and ensuring implementation and adherence to this legislation
· Assist in keeping all policies and procedures current and ensuring these are continually put into practice.
· As an active team member you will also be expected to meet individual children’s needs through observation, planning and assessment.
· Communicating and working with outside agencies to support individual children, parents and the nursery team.
Essential Criteria: Minimum Level 3 in Childcare/Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and current Ofsted statutory guidance/Minimum 3 years relevant experience/Excellent organisational skills/Calm & caring nature/Empathy and Understanding of Children/Administrative and basic IT skills.
