Your New Opportunity: As Senior Transport Planner, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day planning and coordination of the Woodside Haulage fleet, ensuring transport operations are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with customer expectations.
Reporting to the Traffic Manager, you will be responsible for the effective planning of vehicle, trailer and driver resources, supporting the delivery of operational objectives and providing day-to-day guidance to the Transport Planning team. As the senior planner within the operation, you will help maintain service standards, resolve operational issues and support the efficient running of the transport planning desk.
Working closely with drivers, customers and internal stakeholders, you will ensure resources are utilised effectively, customer requirements are met and all transport activities are planned in compliance with relevant legislation.
What This Role Involves:

Plan and coordinate vehicle, trailer and driver resources to deliver safe, efficient and commercially effective transport operations.

Support the Traffic Manager in the day-to-day operation of the transport planning desk, ensuring customer service and operational objectives are achieved.

Act as the senior point of contact within the planning team, providing guidance and support to Transport Planners and assisting with the allocation of workload.

Monitor daily transport operations, proactively resolving planning issues, delays and service disruptions to minimise operational impact.

Build and maintain effective working relationships with drivers, customers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear and professional communication.

Ensure transport activities are planned in compliance with Road Traffic legislation, Drivers' Hours Regulations, Working Time Regulations and company policies.

Maintain accurate transport planning information within the Transport Management System (TMS) and ensure operational documentation is completed correctly.

Work collaboratively with Fleet Maintenance, Driver Training and other departments to ensure operational readiness and vehicle availability.

Identify opportunities to improve planning efficiency, fleet utilisation and customer service, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Support the Traffic Manager with operational reporting, problem-solving and the implementation of business improvements.
What You'll Need:
Essential Criteria
-
Significant experience within transport planning, including experience operating at Senior Transport Planner, Lead Planner or equivalent .

Strong knowledge of UK and Ireland transport operations, including Drivers' Hours, Working Time Regulations and road transport legislation.

Proven experience planning and coordinating vehicle and driver resources within a fast-paced logistics environment.

Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable Criteria

Experience leading, mentoring or supporting Transport Planning teams.

Knowledge of UK-Ireland ferry operations and ferry booking processes.

Experience using fleet telematics and transport planning software.

Experience monitoring operational KPIs and producing performance reports.
