Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated and practical Assistant Remedial Engineer to join our growing team, supporting the delivery of fire compliance and passive fire protection works across commercial, residential, and public-sector properties.
Working alongside experienced Lead Engineers, you will assist with a range of remedial works, including fire damper repairs, fire stopping, compartmentation, and the installation of approved fire-rated products. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Lead Engineers in carrying out passive fire protection and remedial works across client sites.
- Prepare work areas, equipment, tools, and materials to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
- Support the repair, replacement, and maintenance of fire dampers and associated access works.
- Assist with fire stopping and compartmentation repairs to maintain building compliance.
- Help install approved fire-rated products and components in accordance with manufacturer guidance and industry standards.
- Follow survey reports, remedial schedules, and instructions provided by the Lead Engineer.
- Capture photographs and assist with the completion of job documentation and digital service reports.
- Maintain clean, organised, and safe working areas at all times.
- Work in accordance with Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), safe systems of work, and site-specific procedures.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and materials in good condition.
- Travel between client sites as required.
- Participate fully in technical training and professional development programmes.
QualificationsEssential
- Full UK driving licence.
- A practical aptitude with the ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Willingness to learn and develop within the passive fire protection industry.
Desirable
- CSCS Card.
- Passive fire protection or fire damper training.
- Manual Handling certification.
- Asbestos Awareness certification.
- IPAF and/or PASMA certification.
- First Aid qualification.
- Previous experience within construction, maintenance, ductwork, ventilation, or passive fire protection.
