Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented GRP Trimming Operative to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for trimming and finishing Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) components, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained throughout the production process. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills within a dynamic industrial environment. Responsibilities
- Trimming & Cutting: Use hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment (such as saws and grinders) to trim excess fibreglass from moulded parts.
- Finishing & Sanding: Smooth rough edges, apply finishing processes, and ensure the product meets quality specifications.
- Reading Specifications: Follow technical drawings, templates, and work instructions to ensure precise cutting and shaping.
- Quality Control: Inspect fibreglass components for defects and ensure they meet production standards.
- Safety Compliance: Work in accordance with health and safety regulations, including the use of protective equipment like masks, gloves, and safety glasses.
- Material Handling: Move and store fibreglass components safely to avoid damage.
- Machine Operation: Operate trimming and cutting machinery, maintaining them in good working condition.
- Teamwork & Communication: Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate various hand tools and power tools, confidently
- Experience in fabrication and trimming is advantageous
- Knowledge of basic maths for measurement and calculation tasks
- Previous warehouse experience or familiarity with industrial environments is preferred
- Ability to work accurately under supervision in a fast-paced setting
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance
- Good organisational skills with the ability to follow safety protocols diligently
- Valid forklift license is preferred but not essential
